Hannah Coleman is a contemporary artist born in South Africa, raised in South Australia on Kaurna Land. She focuses on experimentations of light and uses disco aesthetics as a vehicle to discuss identity, diaspora, familial culture and lineage. Her works are installation based and create studies of intercultural adaptation, assimilation, inheritance and tokenism. Her practice is centred around lived experience and intersectionality. The works are transmissions of celebration and frustration; reflections of an unwelcomed white Australian cultural diffusion and the reclamation of her Coloured South African identity.
